In this household, it’s clear who’s in charge—and it’s not Cecilia. While she may have a say in certain aspects of family life, when it comes to bedtime, her cat George is firmly in control.
George, an 8-year-old Bengal cat, has been a part of Cecilia’s life since 2022. Cecilia, a violinist, and George live in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Originally from South Korea, Cecilia moved to North America at the age of six and pursued a career in music, eventually joining the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra.
It’s hard for Cecilia to say no to George, given his charming appearance and distinctive meow. George certainly knows how to use his voice to get what he wants and set the rules in the house.
This dynamic is perfectly captured in a TikTok video posted on Cecilia’s account, @violinbycecilia, on July 17th. The video, which has amassed 6.6 million views, shows George insisting that it’s time for bed. The clip has also been shared by Parade Pets.
In the video, George stands in front of Cecilia, meowing persistently. His demand is clear: he wants to go to sleep and expects Cecilia to join him.
“The final say goes to George.”
“I’m not ready for bed yet. You can come sit next to me,” Cecilia tells him, but George is not convinced.
Faced with George’s determination, Cecilia tries to assert more authority. “You don’t decide when I go to bed, because I’m an adult. I know you’re waiting for me to go to sleep. I know, but you can stay here with me on the couch. I’m sorry.”
Unimpressed, George continues to meow, and eventually, he gets his way.
As the video humorously illustrates, it’s nearly impossible to refuse George.
